Below is this year's Scout.com All-America Team, including the offensive player of the year, defensive player of the year, and national coach of the year, as voted upon by the Scout.com football experts from around the country.
Offensive Player of the Year:
Cameron Newton
,
Auburn
Heading into the SEC Championship game this weekend, Newton has thrown for 2254 yards and 24 touchdowns to just six interceptions while adding another 1336 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground. Newton received all but one vote for Offensive Player of the Year, with that vote going to quarterback Kellen Moore of Boise State.
Defensive Player of the Year:
Da'Quan Bowers
,
Clemson
Entering his junior season with four career sacks, Bowers leads the country this year in that category with 16 while going against constant double teams. He also finished the season with 61 tackles, a forced fumble, and an interception. Bowers received 14 votes with Von Miller of Texas A&M in second with 5 votes, Nick Fairley of Auburn with two votes, and Patrick Peterson of LSU with one vote.
National Coach of the Year: Mark Dantonio,
Michigan State
Perhaps no coach had quite as tumultuous year as that of Mark Dantonio whose 2009 Michigan State squad finished the year with a record of 6-7. With just one All-American on this year's squad and in spite of a heart attack in the middle of the year, the Spartans finished this year 11-1 and ranked in the top ten of the BCS standings. Dantonio received seven votes while Jim Harbaugh of Stanford received six votes, Chip Kelly of Oregon received five votes, Gene Chizik of Auburn received three votes, and Bret Bielema of Wisconsin received one vote.
