Dooley on Brent Brewer

Posted Feb 14, 2011

Below is the statement from Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley regarding safety Brent Brewer, who saw an argument with his girlfriend escalate into a charge of domestic assault:

"Without knowing all of the facts, any domestic incident warrants a suspension from all team-related activities until a thorough investigation is concluded. We respect everyone's right to the legal process but also acknowledge a greater standard of conduct associated with the privilege of being a member of the Tennessee football team."

A former pro baseball player, Brent Brewer started the last six games of the 2010 season at strong safety for the Vols. He was credited with 30 stops, a tackle for loss, 3 pass breakups, 1 hurry and 1 fumble recovery.
