Tennessee (28-6, 6-4) got on the scoreboard in the second inning with a towering shot over the left field wall by Jessica Spigner, one of just four hits for the Lady Vols.
Auburn (29-6, 9-4) capitalized on a first inning throwing error, took a 3-0 lead and never trailed on a beautiful but windy afternoon at Lee Softball Stadium before 1,310 fans.
The Lady Vols are back in action Sunday at 1 p.m. to wrap up the Auburn series.
The upcoming week will be spent on the road with a double-header at Georgia on April 6 and then three games at Ole Miss on April 8-10.
