Apparently, UT basketball player Brandon Crump needs to work on his hook -- not his sky hook, but his left hook.

Crump (6-10) was engaged in a fight with Vol teammate Elgrace Wilborn (6-8) on June 1 that left Crump with a broken jaw and Wilborn with an aggravated assault charge. Wilborn is currently free on bond.

Police reports say Wilborn took exception to a few comments Crump made to some females visiting the apartment that Crump and Wilborn share. An argument ensued, with Crump allegedly getting loud and chest-bumping Wilborn.

Wilborn says he backed off at this point but, when Crump continued being loud and aggressive, Wilborn hit Crump in the face.

Crump was taken to Fort Sanders Medical Center, where he is on an all-liquids diet. He is expected to require four to six weeks to fully recover.

Vol head coach Buzz Peterson called the incident ''an internal matter.''

Reports indicate that Crump still plans to attend the Pete Newell Big Man Camp in August, just as he did last summer.

Crump, who will be a junior in 2003-04, started 27 of 29 games last season, averaging 11 points and 5.9 rebounds.
