FAIRBURN, Ga. — To compete on a high level in the Southeastern Conference, programs need pure athleticism and track speed in the secondary. If there's a program that's seen that up close in 2012, it's Tennessee
Evan Berry fits that mold perfectly. The Volunteers, as well as other SEC schools like Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Vanderbilt see that.
He and his twin brother Elliot Berry made a trip to Rocky Top back in July for the first time in years. While there the pair sat down with coach Derek Dooley and cornerbacks coach Derrick Ansley, who has been south to see the Seminoles play in person this year.
The 5-foot-10, 193-pound prospect opened up the FOX Sports NEXT rankings for the Class of 2014 at No. 198 in the country. The three-star is currently the No. 17 safety in the land.
With the twitch and burner speed to line up on the island and the physicality and range to roam at safety, Berry has the skill set to play any spot in the back end of a defense.
InsideTennessee.com took in a Creekside game this fall and spoke with the Vol target afterward. See what he told us in the exclusive interview below:
