Five-Star Back Pumped About Auburn Visit

Derrick Green

Talented running back Derrick Green discusses his visit to Auburn this weekend for the Georgia game and why he's still very high on the Tigers.

Richmond, Va.—A five-star prospect and the number two running back prospect in the country, big Derrick Green has been a frequent visitor to Auburn since early in the spring. This weekend he'll get an opportunity to see a different side of Auburn when he takes an official visit to see the Tigers take on #5 Georgia Saturday night at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

"I'm looking forward to my visit a lot," Green tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "I'm real excited just to be on the campus again and see the coaching staff again and be around the players. I'm real excited because it's my first game day at Auburn. I loved it when I went to the Georgia Dome when they played Clemson. The fans there showed me a lot of love so I'm real excited to see them at their own field.

"I know the atmosphere is going to be electrifying," he added. "When they played Clemson the fans were showing me a lot of love and that was an away game. I'm really looking forward to going to their home field and I'm looking for it to rock."

Nobody expected that when Green's visit took place that Auburn would be sitting with just two wins this late in the season, but that's exactly the situation for this weekend's visit. Even with the struggles the team has had this season, Green said for him it's something he doesn't see as a negative when he thinks about the Tigers. He added that because he could play right away it only makes Auburn more desirable for him.

"It influences me a lot because I can see at my position they definitely need help in the running game," Green said. "Just looking at that it influences me a lot because of my position.

"You have to look at it like sometimes that one person could change a program around," he added. "If it's in the running game, then that's where I could come in and help."

On his visits to Auburn and at the Georgia Dome, Green has had the opportunity to get to know many of the Tigers' current commitments including Reuben Foster, Dee Liner and Carl Lawson. He said that he keeps in touch with all of them and those relationships are one of the many reasons why he feels good about Auburn.

"I'm definitely keeping in touch with all those guys," Green said. "I actually spoke to Reuben the other day about coming to the Auburn game and then the Under Armour game. We don't talk really about football, just about what we've been up to.

"It's definitely big," he added. "If I were to pick Auburn I would already have relationships with some of the guys that are going to be there. I also have a good relationship with some of the players already on the team. It's definitely all good and a family atmosphere. I like that a lot."

Planning on taking his time before making a final decision, Green said all of his final schools are still in the mix. In addition to Auburn that includes Michigan, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.

Currently Green is focused on his senior season as he has helped Hermitage to a 9-0 start. Rarely playing into the second half because his team usually has a big lead, he has still managed to rush for 1,200 yards with 22 touchdowns.
