C.J. Mosley Honored By Walter Camp AA Team

C.J. Mosley attended the 46th Annual Walter Camp National Awards Dinner Saturday evening at the Yale University Commons held in New Haven, Connecticut. Over 1,000 college football enthusiasts were present at the formal gala to honor the Tide linebacker and fellow members selected to the 123rd edition of the All-America team, the nation’s oldest.
began playing organized football in 1892, just prior to Walter Camp, the “Father of Football”, naming his first All-American team in 1889. The two entities share more than rich tradition and history as Mosley, the Most Outstanding Defensive Player of the 2013 Discover BCS National Championship Game learned recently.

On a different scale, the Walter Camp Football Foundation weekend events foster an accelerated version to create another lifelong fraternal tangible membership to an organization. The current All-Americans spent the past few days developing friendships among themselves, returning alumni and committee members. One hundred twenty-four Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors cast votes to assemble the squad.
joins the forty-nine University of Alabama student-athletes past and present to be a First Team selection recognized by the prestigious association. Five Crimson Tide players were honored twice raising the number of First Team designees to fifty-four – lineman
(2012 & 2011), linebacker, Cornelius Bennett (1986 & 1985), safety, Tommy Wilcox (1982 & 1981), linebacker, Thomas Boyd (1981 & 1980) and running back, Johnny Musso (1971 & 1970). Alabama had two or more First Team honorees nine times since 1934 including four in 2009, 2011 and 2012. The five-year streak of the Crimson Tide having at least one Walter Camp First Team All-American leads the nation.
Alabama’s leading tackler (107 total, 66, 41 assisted) for the 2012 season discusses a myriad of topics including his first visit to the Nutmeg state, leadership, the number 26 on the helmet honoring the Sandy Hook Elementary School victims,
and repeating as BCS National Champions.
