Tennessee made it to the Women’s College World Series last season, but the goal this year is to do far more than just get there.
With All-Americans dotted on the infield, speedsters in the outfield and experience in the circle, the Lady Vols’ goal is to win the program's first national title.
The team will depart Wednesday for Utah and officially open the season in the Red Desert Classic in St. George.
Tennessee will play six games in four days: Southern Utah on Thursday; Idaho State and Utah State on Friday; South Dakota and BYU on Saturday; and Oklahoma State on Sunday.
Coach Ralph Weekly said all four pitchers will get a turn in the circle on the road trip – the sisters Renfroe in Ivy and Ellen, Cheyanne Tarango and Erin Gabriel.
The next win will be the program’s 800th and Weekly said he wants to mark that milestone on Thursday.
