Helm is FOX Sports NEXT's No. 4 tight end in America and the second-highest rated player in Illinois behind linebacker Clifton Garrett.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder chose the Volunteers over Ole Miss back on April 23. The appeal of being a Pro-Style tight end in coordinator Mike Bajakian's offense was a prime reason for his declaration.
FOX Sports NEXT national analyst Allen Trieu covers the Illinois area and said this about Helm: "Excellent receiver who can split out or play in the slot and create mismatches. Fluid route runner with good body control and excellent ball skills. Catches passes at their highest point and does a great job of adjusting to passes in the air. Does come in as an in-line tight end and gives good effort as a blocker, but still has to fill out and get stronger. Still, he has all the tools to be a very good in college."
Helm is also one of the more intelligent players in his class as he boasts a 5.4 grade point average and scored a 32 on the ACT.
