IT picks the SEC

Posted Nov 15, 2013

Please check out the latest SEC projections from InsideTennessee's staff of gridiron experts:

Only five games are on this weekend’s SEC schedule but two of them – Georgia at Auburn and Florida at South Carolina – offer some intrigue.

Georgia, Auburn and South Carolina are still fighting for division titles, while Gator coach Will Muschamp is fighting to avoid the program’s first losing record since 1979. Throw in the fact Gamecock head man Steve Spurrier is a former Gator player and coach, and the SC-Florida game could be more interesting than the records suggest.

Each of InsideTennessee’s football analysts went 6-1 on last week’s SEC picks due to missing Vanderbilt’s win at Florida. Danny Parker continues to hold the season lead at 75-8, one game ahead of Randy Moore, two ahead of Josh Woodward and four up on Riley Blevins.

Here are this week's picks (with season records in parenthesis):

DANNY PARKER (75-8)

PARKER

Alabama at Miss. State: The Crimson Tide looking past this SEC West foe toward the Iron Bowl showdown? Not so much. Alabama, 41-12.

Georgia at Auburn: This one figures to be a bit better than it would have been a few weeks ago but the Tigers continue rolling along. Auburn, 35-31.

Florida at South Carolina: Curious if Gators offensive coordinator Brent Pease and offensive line coach Tim Davis have their résumés updated. May want to get on that, men. South Carolina, 20-10.

Kentucky at Vanderbilt: Only question is who gets a majority of the reps at quarterback for the Commodores as the in-state showdown looms. Vanderbilt, 45-9.

Troy at Ole Miss: The Trojans sneak up on people quite often and usually can match up athlete-for-athlete at several positions. However, the Rebels will be too much. Ole Miss, 38-24.

RANDY MOORE (74-9)

MOORE

Alabama at Miss. State: Remember when Dan Mullen was considered one of the coaching profession’s rising stars? Remember when the Tide wasn’t favored in every game? Me neither. Bama, 34-10

Georgia at Auburn: After pummeling Tennessee last weekend, Gus Malzahn’s Tigers face another weak defense this weekend. Auburn, 41-31

Florida at South Carolina: Florida AD Jeremy Foley dumped Ron Zook after three years. Can third-year man Will Muschamp survive the 2013 nose-dive? Gamecocks, 24-13

Kentucky at Vanderbilt: The Dores will come out flat after their big win at Gainesville but it won’t matter much. Vandy, 31-14

Troy at Ole Miss: Troy can be pesky but the 6-3 Rebels still have a shot at a mid-level bowl game. Ole Miss, 34-13

Bonus pick: Tennessee vs. open date: Vols, 35-0.

JOSH WOODWARD (73-10)

WOODWARD

Alabama at Miss. State: Should be a beat down this weekend, I don't see it being close. 45-7 Alabama

Georgia at Auburn: This could be a real good game, I expect Georgia to play it close, but Auburn has lots of momentum this season. 42-33 Tigers

Florida at South Carolina: Tennessee is wishing it could get Florida late in the year. This shouldn't even be close. 38-10

Kentucky at Vanderbilt: Lots of distractions still happening in Nashville, but I don't see Kentucky making this game close. 28-3 Vandy

Troy at Ole Miss: Not much of a game here, Ole Miss should cruise. 45-17

RILEY BLEVINS (71-12)

BLEVINS

Alabama at Miss. State: Shocked ESPN’s College GameDay passed up on this one. Alabama 52-10.

Georgia at Auburn: Georgia is backed into a corner and finally starting to get healthy. The Bulldogs pull off the upset. Georgia 35-34.

Florida at South Carolina: Will Muschamp's seat will continue to heat up. Florida's great defense was a thing of September. Gamecocks 24-10.

Kentucky at Vanderbilt: Vandy will become bowl eligible as it eyes a big matchup with the Vols. Vandy 21-3.

Troy at Ole Miss: Unless Sal Sunseri is hired at the last moment, Ole Miss shouldn't have a problem here. Ole Miss 38-13.
