Haralson wins SEC honor

Posted Oct 18, 2004

Playing in his home state apparently agrees with Parys Haralson. Tennessee's junior co-captain, a native of Flora, Miss., has been tabbed SEC Defensive Player of the Week following his superb showing in last Saturday night's 21-17 win at Ole Miss.

Haralson recorded a career-high 10 tackles, including a career-high five tackles for loss, as the Vols improved to 5-1. Haralson also recorded two sacks.

Haralson's tackles for loss cost the Ole Miss 16 yards. He now has 23 tackles this season, including 3.5 sacks.

Haralson is the third Vol to win SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors this season. Linebacker Kevin Burnett won following the Florida game and defensive end Jason Hall won for the Georgia game.
