Quintin Banks, a 6-4, 180-pounder from Houston County High School of Warner
Robins, Ga., just returned from the Georgia Senior Camp but says the Vols
are still his leader.
''I like Georgia, Purdue, Tennessee and Auburn,'' he told Ryan Jordan of
Scout.com. ''Tennessee is still my favorite because my family loves them and
I grew up liking them.''
Still, Banks liked what he saw on his visit to Athens.
''The camp really impressed me,'' he said. ''They work hard, and I want to
be a part of a team that does work hard. They showed me they want to win
every game they play and that¹s important to me.''
Banks, who visits Auburn next week, used his great size to record 79 tackles
and an interception last season. His height is surely attractive to Vol
recruiters. After fielding tall safeties like Deon Grant, Julian Battle and
Jason Allen in recent years, the UT staff appears likely to go with 5-foot-9
Jonathan Hefney at free safety this fall. Obviously, Hefney will at a
disadvantage in jump-ball situations with the SEC's taller receivers.
