Thaddeus Young lists UT

Posted Aug 3, 2005

There’s good news on the Vol basketball recruiting front.

Thaddeus Young, rated the No. 2 small forward prospect in America by ScoutHoops.com, lists Tennessee among the seven colleges he is still considering. The others are Arkansas, Duke, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Memphis and North Carolina.

Young, a 6-8, 200-pounder from Memphis Mitchell High School, announced his final seven through a news release.

In whittling his college options to seven schools, Young scratched such programs as Illinois, Kansas, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Mississippi State. Although he is too young to meet the National Basketball Association’s new age restriction, Young noted in his news release that he might explore the NBA’s Developmental League or pro ball in Europe. Prep school is an option, as well.

Tennessee also is recruiting Brandon Powell, a teammate of Young’s at Mitchell High School. Powell is a 6-4, 190-pound shooting guard rated No. 16 nationally by ScoutHoops.com.
