Georgia (10-2), fresh from a 34-14 thrashing of LSU in Saturday’s SEC Championship Game, will face West Virginia in the Sugar Bowl.
Auburn (9-2) has been paired against Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl. The fast-finishing Tigers should be heavily favored against the Big Ten’s Badgers.
Alabama (9-2), a loser of its last two games after a 9-0 start, slipped to the Cotton Bowl against Texas Tech. This is the classic match-up between a stingy defense (the Tide) and a high-scoring offense (the Red Raiders).
Florida (8-3), coming off a blowout of Florida State, will be playing in the Outback Bowl for the third time in the last four years. The Gators, previously invited following the 2002 and 2003 seasons, will be facing Iowa.
LSU (10-2), because of its lopsided loss in the SEC Championship Game, tumbled all the way to the Peach Bowl, where it will play the Miami Hurricanes. Both teams were hoping for better bids, so this game might be dubbed "The Disappointment Bowl."
South Carolina (7-4), the only other SEC team with a winning record, has accepted the berth opposite Missouri in the Independence Bowl. The ol’ ball coach (Steve Spurrier) shocked a lot of people by earning a bid in his first year with the Gamecocks.
