I agree with Dodd’s ratings for the most part but I think he missed the mark in a few areas. That said, I’m offering my hot seat ratings for the 12 SEC coaches using Dodd’s 0-5 scale. For the sake of comparison, my grade is at the far left of each column with Dodd’s grade at the far right in parenthesis.
0 - Steve Spurrier, S.Carolina: He should run for governor (0)
0 - Mark Richt, Georgia: He rules the SEC East (0.5)
0 - Tommy Tuberville, Auburn: Thank you, Al Borges (0.5)
0 - Les Miles, LSU: Won SEC West as a rookie coach (0)
1 - Urban Meyer, Florida: Losing to Spurrier hurt a bit (1.5)
2 - Mike Shula, Alabama: Fans want to see more offense (1.5)
2 - Sylvester Croom, Miss. State: Beating Ole Miss won more time (2)
2 - Ed Orgeron, Ole Miss: He can recruit, but can he coach? (1)
3 - Phil Fulmer, Tennessee: See Mike Shula (2.5)
3 - Houston Nutt, Arkansas: Frosh QB Mustain may keep wolves at bay (2.5)
3.5 - Bobby Johnson, Vanderbilt: No one else wants the job (2.5)
