So says Pete Fiutak of collegefootballnews.com in an article currently posted at the popular website.
Fiutak predicts that three wideouts will go ahead of Robert Meachem – Georgia Tech's Calvin Johnson to Tampa Bay with pick No. 4, Southern Cal's Dwayne Jarrett to the 49ers with pick No. 11 and Notre Dame's Jeff Samardzija to Buffalo with pick No. 12.
Fiutak has Meachem going to the Green Bay Packers with pick No. 16, with South Carolina's Sidney Rice going to Jacksonville one pick later. Ohio State's Ted Ginn is projected as pick No. 22 to Dallas and LSU's Dwayne Bowe as pick No. 28 to San Diego.
Fiutak believes the Oakland Raiders will select LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell with the first pick in the draft. Detroit will take Wisconsin offensive tackle Joe Thomas with pick No. 2. The Browns will select Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn with pick No. 3. After the Bucs choose Johnson, the Arizona Cardinals close out the top five by taking Michigan defensive tackle Alan Branch.
Russell, Meachem and Rice are among 11 SEC players Fiutak projects as first-rounders. The others are:
Arkansas defensive end Jamaal Anderson, pick 9 to Miami
LSU safety LaRon Landry, pick 14 to Carolina
Arkansas offensive tackle Tony Ugoh, pick 19 to the Titans
Georgia defensive end Quentin Moses, pick 20 to the Giants
Florida defensive end Jarvis Moss, pick 26 to the Eagles
Florida safety Reggie Nelson, pick 29 to New England
Ole Miss linebacker Patrick Willis, pick 30 to New Orleans
