Witten eager for Kelley's return

No one is more excited about the possible return of UT wide receiver Kelley Washington than Vol tight end Jason Witten. That's because opposing defenses won't be able to focus as much attention on stopping Witten once Washington returns to the mix.

''I told him at practice, 'You need to get back out there,' '' Witten said with a laugh. ''I think he'll be able to take a lot off me.''

With Washington missing from the equation, Wyoming was surrounded Witten in last Saturday's opener. The result: Witten was limited to four catches for 28 yards.

Head coach Phillip Fulmer noted that the Cowboys ''knew where he was at all times. They had two guys on him a lot -- one in front and one behind.''

Witten noticed.

''I hadn't seen that much attention since my high school days,'' he said.
