Chris Lofton becomes the first Vols player to earn first or second team All-America honors from the Associated Press since Dale Ellis was a first-team selection in 1983. Last year Lofton was an honorable mention selection by the Associated Press.
Freshmen Kevin Durant (Texas) and Greg Oden (Ohio State) were named to the first team. They were joined by Alando Tucker (Wisconsin), Acie Law IV (Texas A&M) and Arron Afflalo (UCLA). Second team selections included Nick Fazekas (Nevada), Tyler Hansbrough (North Carolina), Jared Dudley (Boston College), Joakim Noah (Florida) and Lofton. Third team picks were Jeff Green (Georgetown), Al Horford (Florida), Aaron Brooks (Oregon), Al Thornton (Florida State) and Aaron Gray (Pittsburgh).
