The 6-foot-2, 275-pound prospect has been a starter at Florence since his sophomore season. He was named All-Area and All-Region as a junior and is an honors student. The Vols were the first team to offer Anderson, who has made several unofficial visits to UT’s campus.
Anderson made visits this spring to both Auburn and Alabama for junior day before attending UT’s Orange and White Game last week.
“I have been to Alabama and I went on some visits last year to Tennessee,” he told Mark Murphy of Inside the Auburn Tigers last month. “I am going to go to Tennessee’s junior day in a few weeks. I have got a trip planned to Mississippi State’s, too, but I am not sure if I am going to go or not.”
Carson Anderson apparently doesn’t have strong ties to Auburn or Alabama, which should help the Vols hold on to his commitment.
“I have always been a fan of all schools,” he told Murphy in their March 11 interview. “I have one scholarship offer and it’s from Tennessee. They made the offer last week.”
Anderson is the fifth player to commit to Tennessee in the Class of 2008, joining running back Tauren Poole of Toccoa, Ga., middle linebacker Austin Johnson of Hickory, N.C., cornerback J.T. Floyd of Greenville, S.C., and Aaron Douglas of Maryville, Tenn.
