Hogs look scary good
Darren McFadden

If Tennessee’s defense surrendered 234 rushing yards in Saturday’s 59-7 drubbing of lowly Louisiana-Lafayette, how many will it give up against Arkansas next weekend?

That’s a point worth pondering in view of what the Razorbacks did to South Carolina Saturday night in Fayetteville. Darren McFadden rushed for 323 yards and cohort Felix Jones added 163 as the Hogs prevailed 48-36.

Jones got the Gamecocks’ attention in the first quarter with 119 yards on just four carries. McFadden took it from there, finishing with the biggest rushing day in Southeastern Conference history. All told, McFadden and Jones combined for 486 of Arkansas's 541 rushing yards.

With three games left, Tennessee (6-3 overall, 3-2 SEC) can claim the league’s Eastern Division title by winning out. Here’s a look at the three teams the Vols must beat:

- Arkansas (Nov. 10). The Razorbacks (6-3, 2-3) got nearly 500 combined rushing yards from McFadden and Jones in crunching Carolina.

- Vanderbilt (Nov. 17). The Commodores (5-4, 2-4) suffered a 49-22 beat-down at Florida. Vandy’s defense surrendered 358 total yards in the first two quarters en route to a 35-7 halftime deficit. The ‘Dores now have lost 17 consecutive games to the Gators.

- Kentucky (Nov. 24 at Lexington). The Wildcats (6-3, 2-3) enjoyed an open date. They play at Vanderbilt (Saturday) and at Georgia (Nov. 17) before hosting Tennessee in the regular-season finale.
