On fourth-and-inches at the Vanderbilt 30-yard line, Ainge burrowed into a mass of humanity. He advanced the ball just six inches but he only needed three. UT went up 6-0 three plays later.
Ainge. His four incompletions were ugly but he still completed 11 of 15 throws for 89 yards and a TD in the quarter.

Ainge's lateral. With no one open downfield, he started to throw the ball away. Then, spotting tight end Chris Brown in the left flat, Ainge rifled a throw that bounded off Brown's shoulder pads and was picked up by Benoist. The three points Vandy got were truly a gift.
Adams. The Vandy quarterback was 5 of 10 passing for 55 yards and two touchdowns in the period. He also rushed twice for 10 yards.
The Commodores kept the ball for 10:05 of the period, UT just 4:55.
The roughing-the-kicker call. That shifted the momentum and basically resurrected Tennessee's chances of victory.
Adams again. The Vandy quarterback completed just three of four passes but they produced 41 yards and another TD.
Vandy converted on four of five third-down tries during the quarter.
Rogan's return. It ignited the Vols and their crowd, in addition to putting Tennessee in position for Lincoln's game-winning field goal.
Rogan. As noted earlier, he made a touchdown-saving stop on D.J. Moore's return mere moments after making his own 45-yard kickoff return.
Tennessee limited Vanderbilt to 16 yards of total offense in the final quarter.
