Parker is 2nd-team All-American

Posted Dec 13, 2007

Tennessee offensive guard Anthony Parker was named Tuesday an All-America second team member by the Associated Press.

The junior from Jonesboro, Ga., was a consensus All-SEC performer this year anchoring one of the strengths of the Tennessee football team. The Vols lead the SEC and the nation with only four sacks allowed. Rutgers is the next closest team with nine. The UT offensive front allowed a quarterback sack this year every 123.8 pass plays.

Anthony Parker has started the last 22 games he’s played in (missed 2007 Outback Bowl because of injury). He started all 13 games this year at left guard after making a dozen starts at right guard in 2006. And he more than lived up to this year’s preseason billing after being named All-SEC by the Sporting News and third-team All-SEC by the league coaches back in the summer months.
