Welcome to the very first edition of the InsideTennessee.com Recruiting MailBox. This is a new feature where our new Scout.com Recruiting Analyst James Bryant will answer our member's questions about Tennessee Recruiting.

What we don't already know we will do our best to find out the answers for you.

Question 1: We made Jake Heaps final 5. Do we have a realistic chance? If not, who does Kiffin and Company go after since Bell, Simms and few others have already committed? It would be nice to have a big name QB on board by June - this would seemingly boost recruiting some of the OL / DL "big uglies" as well! As you well know we are in dire need on both sides of the ball! Thanks!!

Answer: The chances are good with Jake Heaps, I think that Tennessee will most likely take two quarterbacks in this class. With that Jesse Scroggins and Andrew Hendrix are definitely three of the top quarterbacks that are appearing on the Vols radar.

Question 2: Junior college targets for Vols? (DT Carmon, DE Dorsey offered, a couple more DTs have expressed interest, other positions?)

Answer: Patrick Harris is a defensive tackle from Chabot Junior College. He is a 6-foot-5, 300-pound defensive tackle that appears to be on the Vols radar. There will be several others appear over the next couple of weeks with all the coaches on the road. Ed Orgeron and Frank Wilson have great connections with the Mississippi Junior College coaches. This should be interesting.

Question 3: Can Vols get a commitment from highly rated RB Michael Dyer after last year's strong RB class?

Answer: I spoke to Michael this weekend and he definitely has interest in Tennessee. Coach Orgeron is doing a great job recruiting him. Dyer is one of the best running backs in the country in this recruiting class, he doesn't seem scared of competition. On the other hand it will be very tough to get Dyer out of Arkansas, if anyone can do it, it might be Orgeron and company.

Question 4: In a perfect world, how many commitments do we want before the fall? If we get 12-15 early commits, do we wait and "cherry pick" the remaining class to fill positions of need after their senior season?

Answer: Normally at Ole Miss Orgeron would have 15-20 early commitments by the end of the summer? At Tennessee this is a whole new ball game, with the Vols recruiting more on a national level. For this staff to build a team to compete for National Championships such as Orgeron and Kiffin did at USC, the tide will change a little bit. Expect 10 commitments by the end of the summer. When you up the quality of the prospect your recruiting, national guys often wait until National Signing Day to make those dramatic decisions. This will be interesting to see how this plays out in Knoxville. A big part of this will depend on what type of success that the Vols has on the field this year as well.

Question 5: James Carmon the JC DT who is rated 4* by Scout. He's listed at 6'7 and 370 and has Tn 'high' on his preferences. When do we lock this guy up?

Answer: I feel really good about the Vols chances of landing this standout defender. I wouldn't be surprised if he pulls the trigger by the end of the summer.

Normally we will answer at least 7-10 questions a week, this week we have limited it to five do to the short time frame.
