Having a stable of quality running backs is something that new Tennessee Coach Lane Kiffin has made a high priority since his arrival in Knoxville.

Securing Bryce Brown's signature in his first signing class, Coach Kiffin appears not to be through recruiting the nations best runners for Rocky Top.

Florida's St Thomas Aquinas star runner Gio Bernard confirmed Thursday with InsideTennessee.com that he indeed has interest in the Vol Football Program.

"I definitely have interest in Tennessee," Bernard said. "Knowing they have some quality backs already there is important. It doesn't bother me at all that Brown is a true freshman there. I want to surround myself with other great players so we can learn and push each other to the next level."

Bernard, a 5-foot-9, 200-pound runner with 4.5 speed, rushed for over 1500 yards and 20 touchdowns last season. He currently has 23 official offers from some of the top schools in the country.

"I have a lot of interest in Alabama, Clemson and Tennessee right now," Bernard said. "Tennessee is recruiting me very strong."

Coach Eddie Gran has been recruiting him for sometime now, beginning while he was still at Auburn.

"Coach Gran is a really cool guy," Bernard said. "He is really outgoing. We began developing a relationship when he was at Auburn. He is recruiting me really hard right now."

Right now Bernard doesn't plan on attending any summer camps but will take his five official visits in the fall.

"Yes Tennessee has a good chance of getting an official visit from me," Bernard said. "I want to go up there and check things out. They definitely like to run the football, that's important to me."
