One position of need for the University of Tennessee is on the defensive front. With three commitments already, is Ed Orgeron and Lane Kiffin satisfied with three? Apparently not, it appears that UT will sign at least six D-linemen. Another top prospect for the Vols appears to be Evan Hailes of Virginia. Go inside this FREE READ to see what Hailes has to say.

As the evaluation period comes to a halt, one area that Lane Kiffin and his staff of ace recruiters have seen their hard work pay off is along the Defensive Line.

The D-Line has been a spot of need in Knoxville for some time now, and the Tennessee staff has wasted no time in wrapping up 3 early commitments.

However despite this early success, it does not look like Tennessee’s nearly insatiable Recruiting Coordinator Ed Orgeron is going to stop anytime soon; his next subject?

Chesapeake, VA DT Evan Hailes, who is widely considered as one of the best Defensive Tackles in the south.

Virginia Tech, N.C State, LSU, West Virginia, Alabama, Maryland and UConn are just some of the programs that have made the trip to see Hailes, and the rest of his talented Oscar Smith Squad this spring.

So where do the Vols fit in you may ask?

“Tennessee has been down to see me this spring. I talk to coach Orgeron a lot. Coach Orgeron is kind of straight to the point with me, he let me know early on that he was feeling me.”

While Hailes and Orgeron seem to have developed a good rapport with each other, Coach O is not the only Tennessee Assistant that has been in contact with Evan; Defensive Backs coach Willie Mack Garza has also developed a good relationship with the 4-Star standout.

”Coach Willie Mack is kind of a jokester at times. He likes to joke around with me a lot more than other coaches do."

Tennessee could also be getting some help here from 2009 Oscar Smith signee LB Jerod Askew.

“He talks to me about Tennessee a lot. He talks to me about them every day."

Though Hailes declined to name any favorites, he does have two visits planned for the summer.

“I am going to Virginia Tech on the 6th and to Tennessee on the 18th.”

The trip to Knoxville will be the first to Tennessee for Hailes. When asked about a about a possible timeline for his decision, Hailes said that he is taking a things easy, and will make a decision when the time is right.

Hailes is currently 6 foot 1 and weighs in at 310 pounds.

Hailes-known for his strength-has a bench press of 450 pounds and can squat 540 pounds.

Quickness and Explosiveness off the ball are what he considers his greatest attributes.

He sees his speed as a part of his game he will look to improve on. Among others, he currently holds offers from schools such as Tennessee, Virginia Tech, LSU, Cal and Clemson.
