Toney Williams OK after surgery

Tennessee head athletic trainer Jason McVeigh has reported that freshman running back Toney Williams underwent successful right knee ACL reconstruction surgery Wednesday at UT Medical Center.

The procedure was performed by Drs. Greg Mathien and Russ Betcher of Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic.

Toney Williams sustained the knee injury during voluntary workouts last month. The Alpharetta, Ga., native will miss the 2009 season but is expected to return to full strength in time for Tennessee’s 2010 spring drills.
