Georgia won the 1980 national title by handing the football to Herschel Walker. Florida won the 1996 national title by handing the ball to Fred Taylor. Tennessee won the 1998 national title by handing the ball to Jamal Lewis and Travis Henry. A stud running back (or two) doesn't guarantee a national championship but it certainly enhances your chances.
