IT picks the SEC

There are some really intriguing matchups on this weekend's SEC slate.

Rested Tennessee visits top-ranked Alabama, improving Arkansas visits disappointing Ole Miss, unpredictable Auburn visits equally unpredictable LSU and Florida, having surrendered its No.1 ranking in the Associated Press poll, looks to rebound at Mississippi State.

Only two SEC teams - South Carolina (hosting Vanderbilt) and Kentucky (hosting Louisiana Monroe) - appear to have relatively easy games this Saturday. Georgia is idle.

The competitive slate is sure to challenge InsideTennessee.com analysts Randy Moore and James Bryant as they make their weekly predictions, along with guest picker Dave Hooker of The Knoxville News-Sentinel.

Randy, James and Dave went 5-1 each last week. Dave now stands 46-9 for the season, Randy 43-12, James 42-13.

Here are their picks for this week:

Randy's picks

TENNESSEE AT ALABAMA: Two struggling offenses try to penetrate two excellent defenses. Bama 17, Tennessee 10

ARKANSAS AT OLE MISS: What happened to the Jevan Snead-for-Heisman talk? Arkansas 27, Ole Miss 23

AUBURN AT LSU: Gus Malzahn's offense is better than it has shown the past two weeks. LSU's offense tries not to lose the game each week. Auburn 20, LSU 17

FLORIDA AT MISSISSIPPI STATE: The teacher (Urban Meyer) schools the student (Dan Mullen). Florida 27, Mississippi State 14

LOUISIANA MONROE AT KENTUCKY: If it weren't for the Warhawks, who would SEC teams play for Homecoming? Kentucky 31, ULM 14

VANDERBILT AT SOUTH CAROLINA: The Dores' excellent pass defense will give Stephen Garcia trouble. The problem is, Vandy's inept pass offense gives itself trouble. South Carolina 24, Vanderbilt 10

James' picks

TENNESSEE AT ALABAMA: Look for the upset of the year if the Vols play as good as they did against Georgia. 24-21 Vols.

ARKANSAS AT OLE MISS: If Jevan Sneed doesn't play well, expect Arkansas to pull off the upset here, they hate Nutt and will be motivated to win in Oxford. 31-21.

AUBURN AT LSU: Yes I called for Auburn to lose to Kentucky, can Auburn now win at LSU. They could, but probably won't happen. LSU 31-28.

FLORIDA AT MISSISSIPPI STATE: Florida hasn't won in Starkville in their last four opportunities. Don't be surprised if it happens tomorrow. 38-24 Florida.

LOUISIANA MONROE AT KENTUCKY: Kentucky will win back to back games. 45-21.

VANDERBILT AT SOUTH CAROLINA: South Carolina will win another one, 38-14.

Dave's picks

TENNESSEE AT ALABAMA: The Vols will continue to show improvement but Alabama is too good. 23-16, Bama.

ARKANSAS AT OLE MISS: Anyone think Ole Miss has thrown in the towel? I have. 30-20, Arkansas.

AUBURN AT LSU: LSU has the talent, but they also have Les Miles. Still, I'll take the Tigers - Bayou Bengal style, 24-20

FLORIDA AT MISSISSIPPI STATE: It's about time for Florida to hit its stride. 40-24, Gators.

LOUISIANA MONROE AT KENTUCKY: The Cats are riding high after beating Auburn. 28-10, Kentucky.

VANDERBILT AT SOUTH CAROLINA: The Gamecocks are better - and healthier. 20-10, South Carolina.
