Tennessee stole one of Georgia's top athete's Tuesday night when former Alabama commitment decided to become a Volunteer. InsideTennessee.com prides itself on covering Tennessee recruiting like no other. We are the only UT site to see James in action first hand, to get an "Inside" look at the newest Tennessee commitment.

Tennessee picked up a huge commitment Tuesday night from Georgia native JaWuan James.

James, one of the top offensive linemen in the country, was a one time commitment to the University of Alabama. James de-committed from the Crimson Tide earlier in the fall, and had narrowed his choices down between Georgia and the Volunteers.

InsideTennessee.com’s James Bryant made a trip last month to North Gwinnett High School, to get a first hand look and a chance to evaluate James’ talents.

James is listed at 6-foot-6 and 300-pounds.

My take on James:

James is very athletic and carries his weight really well for a big man. He has the frame to handle a lot of growth. James doesn’t look like he weighs as much as he does.

James has great feet and long arms. He plays in a spread offense and has great pass blocking techniques. He is a knee bender instead of a waist bender, speaking in coaching terms. He is a former tight end that is very athletic. He is a true left tackle with a lot of NFL potential.

Strengths include great body control and his overall athleticism.

James needs to improve on his upper body strength and his run blocking skills.

James dominated his opponent all night and was man among boys on the gridiron. He was hard for defensive ends to get around him, he did a great job protecting the quarterback and giving him plenty of time to throw.

James is currently ranked by Scout.com as a four star prospect and is rated as the No. 12 offensive tackle in the country.

James has great upside and is a huge get for Ed Orgeron and Lane Kiffin. Coach Orgeron went head to head against Georgia’s Rodney Garner in his own back yard and beat the Dawgs on one of Georgia’s top athletes.

Another huge advantage for the Vols is that James will graduate from high in December and will enroll at Tennessee in January. Allowing the offensive lineman to spend the spring in the Tennessee off-season program and gives him the opportunity to complete for a starting role during spring football.

James plays one of the top teams in the state of Georgia at North Gwinnett High School. There is a lot of great talent on this team, Tennessee has put it self in great shape in creating a pipeline into this school.

Chad Simmons-Scout.com thoughts: James is one of the top tackles in the country and he will be a perfect fit at left tackle on the college level. His length, flexibility, and feet have put him in position to be elite. He plays in a spread offense, so his run blocking is a little behind his pass protection. He needs to continue to build muscle and he could play with a little more determination. James has the potential to go a long way.
