Tennessee's season opening win over Xavier 16-6 Friday afternoon was dampen when team captain and leading hitter from a year ago Cody Hawn injured his left throwing shoulder in a freak accident during a run down. Go "Inside" for the latest on the injury and how long Hawn may be out.

What appeared as a typical pick off play at first base in the fifth inning turned out to be an unfortunate turn of events here Friday afternoon at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in Knoxville.

Pre-Season All-American Cody Hawn, the teams returning leading hitter from a year ago, injured his left throwing shoulder in a freak mishap.

Hawn was not available for interview after the game as he was taken to a local hospital for a MRI and X-Rays on the shoulder.

According to sources close to the situation, there appears to be no tear in the shoulder, but is badly bruise where the shoulder apparently came out of the socket.

Depending on how Hawn responds to treatment, he is expected to be out of the Vols lineup for 7-14 days.
