Lindy's 2010 Pro Football Draft magazine ranks Berry No. 1 among safeties and compares him to Baltimore Ravens' star Ed Reed.
The thumbnail sketch on Berry notes that he "showed uncommon discipline" and that he is "rarely fooled by play-action or misdirection or beaten over the top due to taking false steps." The sketch adds that he "closes on the ball as well as any safety in the draft" and has "rare diagnosis skills" plus "a quick burst when changing direction."
Lindy's projects Berry as the third pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, going to the Tampa Bay Bucs.
Williams is rated No. 3 among tackles, trailing only Nebraska's Ndamukong Suh and Oklahoma's Gerald McCoy. All three are projected as a Round 1 picks, along with Penn State's Jared Odrick and UCLA's Brian Price.
Lindy's writes of Williams: "With a combination of great strength and burst to project nicely at defensive tackle or on the nose, Williams may only have to convince scouts that his senior campaign wasn't a fluke to rank among the elite in what some believe is an historic class of interior defensive linemen."
The news is not so encouraging regarding ex-Vols Rico McCoy and Dennis Rogan.
McCoy is rated No. 22 among outside linebacker prospects and projected as a free agent. Lindy's notes that "the undersized McCoy has great athletic ability but hasn't been asked to rush the passer from his weak-side position. But he does have good speed for coverage and a penchant for forced fumbles (five as a senior)."
Rogan, a defensive back who elected to bypass his senior season at UT in favor of the draft, is not listed among Lindy's 24 draft-worthy safeties or its 27 draft-worthy cornerbacks. He is, however, ranked No. 5 in a segment called "Should Have Stayed In School."
