Bad omen: Florida's Brandon James returned the opening kickoff 52 yards to the Tennessee 44-yard line. Eight plays later Tim Tebow hit Aaron Hernandez with a two-yard touchdown pass for a 7-0 Gator lead. Montario Hardesty fumbled at the 23-yard line on UT's third offensive play, setting up a 39-yard Jonathan Phillips field goal that padded the lead to 10-0. James returned a punt 78 yards moments later, giving the Gators a 17-0 lead.

| KEY PLAY |

Facing second-and-one on Tennessee's second possession, Arian Foster was stopped for a one-yard loss. The Vols punted two plays later and James took it to the house for a 17-0 lead.
| KEY PLAYER |
James. Who else? He returned the opening kickoff 52 yards to set up a TD and scored the other on a 78-yard punt return. Jonathan Crompton (7 of 8 passing, 54 yards) got off to a strong start for the Vols.
| KEY STAT |

Tennessee marched to a second-and-goal at the Gator 1-yard line but fullback Kevin Cooper's left elbow collided with Crompton's hand, causing a fumble that Florida recovered at its 3-yard line. The Gators drove to a 40-yard field goal by Phillips that padded the lead to 20-0. Tennessee again drove to a second-and-goal at the Gator 1 just before halftime but a no-gain run, an incomplete pass and a Janoris Jenkins interception killed the threat.
| KEY PLAY |
The Crompton/Cooper collision. A touchdown there cuts the lead to 17-7. Instead, Florida recovers a fumble and marches to a field goal that expands the lead to 20-0 ... a 10-point swing.
| KEY PLAYER |
Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes was all over the field, recording 8 first-half tackles.
| KEY STAT |
Tennessee drove to the Florida 1-yard line twice in the quarter but came away with zero points.

A 14-yard return by Brandon James set up a 47-yard Florida drive that ended with a 15-yard touchdown pass from Tebow to Percy Harvin, widening the gap to 27-0.
| KEY PLAY |
On third-and-five at the UT 15-yard line, Tebow unloaded just as he was hit. His pass found Harvin in the left corner of the end zone, padding the score to 27-0.
| KEY PLAYER |
Florida punter Chas Henry. His 57-yard boomer from his own 10-yard line, coupled with a 10-yard block-in-the-back penalty, flipped the field and made UT start a drive from its own 26-yard line.
| KEY STAT |
Florida had two touchdowns and a field goal to show for three trips into the Red Zone through three periods.

Continuing a drive begun late in the third quarter, Tennessee capped an 11-play, 63-yard TD march with a Crompton sneak. His two-point conversion pass was tipped, leaving the score 27-6 with 14:18 to go. Phillips added a 27-yard field goal midway through the quarter to conclude the scoring.
| KEY PLAY |
A 15-yard interference call against UT's DeAngelo Willingham was the biggest gain on Florida's drive to the field goal that put the game completely out of reach
| KEY PLAYER |
Crompton. He completed 4 of 5 passes for 36 yards and had a 12-yard scramble on UT's scoring drive as the Vols averted a shutout.
| KEY STAT |
Tennessee was 1 for 3 on Red Zone opportunities. Florida was 4 for 5.
