| D.J. Swearinger finished his junior season with 93 tackles, two blocked field goals, two blocked punts (one for a touchdown) and one interception. His team finished the season with a 11-2 record, losing in the second round of the playoffs after winning the 4A state championship his sophomore season. He benches 265-pounds, squats 385 and has a 41-inch vertical jump.
Swearinger reports a 3.1 core GPA and a 800 SAT, which he took as a sophomore. He doesn't have a retake date set yet.
Swearinger: "I want to go get the championship back this season.
"I have the ability to go out and make plays. I have a lot of experience and I’m like a quarterback of the defense. I'm smart and know what to do. I also love to hit. If it's moving - I'll hit it. I like laying down a whooping.
"But I'm still trying to improve on every aspect of my game. You always have to keep trying to get better. Even the pros aren't perfect."
