Playing with a fractured clavicle and a concussion, he completed a game-winning 25-yard touchdown pass to Jason Witten on the first play of overtime No. 6 vs. Arkansas. 2000 - Graduated early from high school and enrolled at UT in time for spring practice. Supplanted A.J. Suggs as first-team QB in Game 6 vs. Alabama. Went on to earn third-team Freshman All-America recognition from The Sporting News after completing 121 of 194 passes for 1,473 yards and 15 touchdowns. First career pass was a 19-yard touchdown throw to David Martin against Louisiana-Monroe. Made his first career start three games later vs. Bama, completing 17 of 24 attempts for 213 yards and two touchdowns. Hit six of seven passes in marching Vols down the field on game-winning final drive at South Carolina, including clutch third-and-14 throw to Donte Stallworth. Threw school record-tying five TD passes against Arkansas, including three in 35-point first-quarter explosion. Passed for 364 yards against Kentucky, most ever by a Vol freshman. Struggled in season-ending games with Vanderbilt (14 of 30 for 158 yards with two interceptions) and Kansas State in the Cotton Bowl (7 of 25 for 120 yards with three interceptions).
