This German-born sack specialist hopes to provide the speed rush off the edge that Tennessee has lacked since Leonard Little moved on to the NFL six years ago. Nicknamed ‘The Colonel’ for Col. Klink of the old “Hogan’s Heroes” TV show, Ritzmann is listed first-team at right end, even though he missed spring drills recovering from major knee surgery. 2002 - Redshirted after tearing an ACL in preseason drills. 2001 - A big-play specialist, he scored three times during the season — catching a two-point conversion pass against Memphis, recording a safety against Syracuse and recovering a fumble in the end zone vs. Kentucky. Finished the season with 33 tackles, including eight for minus yardage, four sacks, four hurries and two fumble recoveries. 2000 - Saw action in 11 games as defensive end and special teams performer. Best outing came against Georgia, when he made two tackles, including a 17-yard sack, caused a fumble and recovered one. 1999 - Played in nine games as
reserve end. Had a season-high five tackles vs. Kentucky and recorded sacks against Georgia and Notre Dame. Recovered a fumbled punt vs. Arkansas.
