Baker looms as a candidate for All-America honors after earning Coaches All-SEC recognition in 2002. He has started 31 of 34 games at free safety during his Vol career. A heralded wideout in high school, he caught 37 balls for 730 yards as a senior. Since switching to safety, however, he clearly has found a home on the defensive side of the scrimmage line. His 10 career interceptions lead all SEC players in that category. 2002 - Despite missing two games due to a knee injury, his stats last fall included 60 tackles, a team-high five interceptions and seven pass breakups. 2001 - Led the Vols in interceptions (4), while ranking third in pass breakups (7) and third in total tackles (71). Also returned 26 punts for a 9.1 yard average. Started all 13 games. 2000 - Began the season as a wide receiver but was switched to free safety due to UT’s lack of depth at the position. Started Game 3 vs. Louisiana-Monroe and every game thereafter ... nine games in all.
